There is a change going on today in the World of Singing in Choirs.
e.g. New alternative voices are sounding out from the wellsprings of world, early and contemporary musics. These voices - allied to a wider vision of musicing that includes the creativity of choral improvisation, etc. -
are stretching the boundaries of choral singing.
e.g.
  • Bring Improvisation Movement & Body-Mind-Voice Approaches into Rehearsals
  • Sing Glorious Sacred Musics from Hildegard of Bingen to John Tavener
  • Explore a Wider Range of Musical, Vocal and Choral Styles (e.g. World Voices)
  • Develop the Freedom of Your Voice so that you can Sing Healthily and Expressively
  • Sing New Music inspired by New Musical Paradigms
  • Give Voice to Community through Choral Singing
If you are interested in this exciting wider vision of choral singing,
then CHOROS - Tonalis Company of Singers
    is the Place for You!!

  • Choir Concert against backdrop of Chagall’s stained glass.

  • Term 2: January to end of May

Through meeting one weekend per month (excluding Summer Holiday times)
CHOROS offers a new concept for choir rehearsals which brings many advantages, e.g:

    i)   People who live too far away to attend traditional once a week evening rehearsals are enabled to participate in the choir
ii)  The weekend format enables deeper levels of vocal/musical development to take place
iii) Social and community aspects of the choir are enhanced
iv) Music learning happens more efficiently as people’s energy levels are better on a weekend than on weekday evenings.
In addition, efficient music learning and memory work is enhanced by being able to rehearse choral pieces 2 days running.

  • are given at the end of December and May - (and occasionally at other times by agreement with the choir) - and often include seasonal and sacred repertoire.

All Choir Members need a foundation level ability to read music. (N.B. This does not imply the ability to sight sing.)
